The Status Symbols are a not a bad band.  There are a lot of bands on the indie scene who aren’t very good; surprisingly, however, the Status Symbols are not one of them.  Perhaps it’s the uptight attitude of their drummer Barrett (Riley Hammersly); he gets things done.  Maybe it’s their self-proclaimed king of rock and guitar player extraordinaire Dan (Guy Henry); he “rocks so hard.”  There’s a possibility it may even be the rockstar attire of frontman Greg (Jim Agius); this is doubtful.

Opportunity knocks for the Status Symbols when a young boy from the scene decides to end his life.  Greg, in an uncharacteristically gregarious move, utilizes his father’s influence to organize a memorial concert after the suicide.  The fact that Greg has never met the boy is a moot one; a gig is a gig is a gig, and the Status Symbols are headlining.

The show arrives and egos clash:  Why isn’t Triceratops headlining?  Or Lemon Party?  Or Dog Panic?  Frustrations and jealousies erupt and teen angst spews at an all time high.  Though not quite the rockstars they think they are, the mantra of sex, drugs, and rock and roll still prevails.

`We’re Such Rockstars` is a satire about the indie music world.  It is filmed at the Phoenix Theatre in Petaluma, CA and is the third film from Donksonology.  It premieres August 4, 2006 at the Roxy Cinemas in Santa Rosa, CA at 11:59PM.
